THE UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS CHAPTER
The underlying strength of the Public Relations Student Society of America is its relationship with its parent society, PRSA. You will often hear people say that public relations is about "who you know." And a professional in PRSA is the "who" to know. With more than 20,000 members in 124 chapters in the major PR markets of America, the PRSA/PRSSA partnership offers you a vast network of potential employers.
PRSSA is the world's pre-eminent student society. Through our growing University of Memphis chapter, members can get involved in the society's numerous local and national programs: network with Memphis professionals, discover internship and scholarship opportunity unparalleled by any other professional experience on college campuses today.
In 1968, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) founded the student society with the intent to foster the following:
-
Understanding of current theories and procedures of the profession
-
Appreciation of the highest ethical ideals and principles
-
Awareness of an appropriate professional attitude
-
Associate Membership in PRSA and eventually accredited membership
Today, the Public Relations Student Society of America has over 7,000 members on college campuses across the country.
As a PRSSA member, you will have opportunities to attend resume, interview and career building workshops. You will meet and learn from local leaders in the Memphis public relations community in both our chapter meetings and the monthly PRSA luncheons. This is just one way you'll have the advantage over other job seekers. As a member, you will also have access to the local and national Job Centers.
Through PRSSA, members also have the opportunity to travel to great cities across the country to participate in the National Conference, the National Assembly and Regional Activities.
